In doing so, the bankruptcy court required the Diocese of Syracuse to correct its inaccurate posting of the wrong proof of claim deadline on its website by issuing a press release confirming April 15, 2021 as the proof of claim deadline. On February 23, 2021, the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors (the “Committee”) filed a motion asking the bankruptcy court to extend the deadline for filing proofs of claim in the Diocese of Syracuse bankruptcy case. The Committee filed this motion because the Diocese of Syracuse had inaccurately posted the wrong proof of claim deadline on its website, among other reasons.
